Carys Birse

18-year-old Carys Birse started receiving lessons at age 7 but had been on the ice from age 3 as her mum and gran were ice skaters. Her first coach was Jill Anderson at Dundee Ice Arena.  After learning the basic skating skills, Carys moved to be coached by Simon and Debi Briggs and has been coached by them ever since.

By age 12 Carys had competed in her first IJS competition and at age 13 she competed in her first British championship at novice level. When Carys was age 14 she competed internationally in Luxembourg and New York. She also passed her Junior tests which allowed her to compete in her first British championships at Junior level in 2010.

Unfortunately Carys has had knee problems recently so hasn't been able to skate in 2013. But we are hopeful that she will soon be back on form.
